Macri takes Speedweek victory, Tyler Ross wins URC A-Main

Port Royal, PA – It was the 6th scheduled night of PA Sprint Speedweek presented by Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews and Anthony Macri was able to claim his third Port Royal Speedway Weikert Livestock 410 Sprint Car win of 2024.

Michael Walter and Chase Dietz made up the front row of the 30-lap A Main Race and Walter quickly took the lead as soon as the green flag dropped.

The Selinsgrove driver led the first twelve laps of the race before being caught and overtaken by third-place starter Brent Marks on the backstretch.

A caution was issued on lap 15 for Brock Zearfoss slowing down on the home stretch. That would reset the field with the top five as follows: Marks, Macri, Walter, Dietrich and Logan Wagner.

On the ensuing restart, Macri took the unconventional route around the track, using the bottom side of the corners over the next four laps to take the lead from Marks and claim the $10,000 victory.

“Like Joe Mooney said, it’s a little unconventional,” Macri said in Victory Lane, talking about how he used the bottom side of the track to get the win. “These guys are working really hard this week and giving me a great car all week long. It’s just up to me not to screw it up.”

Brent Marks and Logan Wagner would complete the podium for the Weikert Livestock 410 A main event.

In the United Racing Club 360 Sprint Car-A-Main race, third starter Tyler Ross won the 25-lap main race.

After an accident early in the first lap involving Kyle Smith, Seth Schnoke, Frankie Herr, Ken Meisner, Kruz Kepner and Jake Galloway, Cody Fletcher and Doug Hammaker led the field to the starting line.

As soon as the main race turned green again, Tyler Ross jumped from the inside row 2 to the lead and never looked back.

Jake Karklin would finish second and Doug Hammaker would complete the podium.

PA Speedweek will be back in action on Thursday, July 4 at Hagerstown Speedway. Danny Dietrich holds a 33-point lead over Anthony Macri in the Speedweek point standings.

Port Royal Speedway will be back in action on Saturday, July 6th for the Greg Hodnett Classic as part of PA Speedweek. Selinsgrove Ford’s Super Late Models will also be in action. The evening is presented by Ramsey’s Car Wash.
