Where there’s a will, there’s a goal… – Wokingham.Today

A law firm with offices in Wokingham and Reading has raised £4,930 by taking part in an annual charitable wills campaign, making it one of the highest-donating firms in the country this year and the third highest in the Home Counties.

Clifton Ingram LLP has been involved in the Will Aid campaign since 2008, raising a total of £95,041 by volunteering its time and expertise to prepare wills and by asking clients to make a donation to Will Aid in lieu of the usual fees for preparing simple wills.

The money raised will be shared among the campaign’s charities, which support a wide range of causes in the UK and around the world.

Stephanie Rose, co-head of wills and inheritance and head of the firm’s Farnham office, said: “The whole team is very proud to be taking part in Will Aid and we are delighted to be able to give so many people the peace of mind of having a professionally drafted will.

“We are delighted to be taking part in the campaign and raising so much for charity has been a real team effort.”

Peter McGeown, co-head of wills and inheritance, added: “It’s a great feeling to know that such well-deserving charities are benefitting and helping people here in the UK and abroad who are going through difficult times.”

The generosity of donors who have supported Will Aid since its launch in 1988 has raised over £24 million in charitable donations alone, with many millions more raised in pledged charitable bequests.

Jonathan Chase, Chairman of Will Aid, said: “Congratulations to the team at Clifton Ingram LLP for raising such an amazing amount this year. It is amazing to see so many lawyers volunteering their time so generously and using their expertise to help people gain peace of mind through a professionally written Will, whilst also raising funds for our incredible charities who do such important and life-changing work in the UK and around the world.

“On behalf of all partner charities, a huge thank you and congratulations to Clifton Ingram LLP and all the firms that took part this year!”

Peter de Vena Franks, Will Aid Campaign Director, added: “What a fantastic team effort from everyone who took part in this year’s Will Aid campaign. Thank you to everyone who used their expertise and generosity to donate their time to protect people’s wishes and support such valuable partner charities who are changing lives for the better.”

The Will Aid initiative takes place every November. Lawyers waive the fee for writing a simple will and instead ask their clients to make a donation to Will Aid in advance.

The suggested donation is £100 for a simple single will and £180 for two mirrored wills.

Donations will be split between Will Aid’s partner organisations: ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF and Trócaire.

To meet the continued demand each year, Will Aid is looking for more participating attorneys.
