Activities in Oshkosh include Garden Walk and Faire on the Green


Don’t miss these events in the Oshkosh area this week.

OSHKOSH – Take a look at the gardens of Oshkosh at the Garden Club’s annual walk on July 14 or watch the park dance on July 12.

Also big this week are Paine’s annual Faire on the Green and the Butte des Morts Lions’ Summer Bazaar.

Check out these five events you can’t miss.

Oshkosh Garden Walk presents five gardens on July 14

The Oshkosh Garden Walk takes place on July 14th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The walk takes you through five private gardens throughout the city, whatever the weather.

Visitors can explore the gardens on their own schedule, and experienced gardeners are present at each location to provide gardening tips.

Advance tickets are $8 for adults and free for children under 18. You can purchase them online at oshkoshgardenclub.org/garden-walk.html or at the House of Flowers, 1920 Algoma Blvd. and at uBloom, 930 Witzel Ave. Tickets purchased the day of the event are $10 at any garden location.

Peace Lutheran hosts the annual Park Dance in South Park

Peace Lutheran Church will host its annual Park Dance on July 12. It is scheduled to take place from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at South Park, 659 W. South Park Ave.

Church members will be offering food and drinks for sale starting at 5 p.m. Music will begin around 6 p.m. with the Mason Street Band.

All ages are welcome.

Shop from over 80 vendors at the Butte des Morts Summer Bazaar

The second annual Summer Bazaar, hosted by the Lions of Butte des Morts, is scheduled for July 13. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lions Park, 5069 Washington St., Butte des Morts.

More than 80 vendors will be present. Pat Pederson will provide live music. There will also be an old-fashioned bratwurst dinner planned and the chance to win various raffle baskets.

Art, food and live entertainment at Faire on the Green

The Paine Art Center & Gardens will host its annual Faire on the Green event on July 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair will be held in the 1600 block of Congress Avenue.

Artists will offer a variety of creations for sale, from photography and jewelry to watercolors, pottery and more. The free event will include a corner market with imported and retail items, as well as a selection of fairground foods and live entertainment.

The Oshkosh Library offers many programs for children and adults

The Oshkosh Public Library, 106 Washington Ave., offers a variety of programs for children and adults. For a complete program listing, visit oshkoshpubliclibrary.org/events.

The programs include the following:

Art Adventures for youth in third through fifth grades will be held on July 12 at 10 a.m. in the basement. Teresa Moucha, art teacher, and Shirley Lucas, retired art teacher, will lead the children through collage and mosaic art in this session. Registration required at 920-236-5208 or visit the children’s department.

On July 13, children and families are invited to build an instrument and then perform in the show with Dr. Kickbutt’s Orchestra of Death. The event begins at 10 a.m. under the dome. This local band is a regular at Oshkosh events and plays fun, upbeat Americana/folk music using a variety of traditional and homemade instruments.

Teens write! Blackout Poetry will be offered on July 15th at 1pm in the basement. Teens in grades 6-12 are welcome to participate. In Blackout Poetry, you take a text from a book or magazine and cross out a few words to create your very own poem. Printed materials will be provided.

Create a unique tie-dye t-shirt in the basement of the library. Teens are welcome to this session on July 16 at 11 a.m. Materials and basic instructions will be provided. Wear clothes that can get dirty.
