Due date for property tax for the second half of 2024 on August 12

Mary Jo Collins, Town of North Hempstead Tax Collector, reminds taxpayers that Monday, August 12, is the last day to pay the second half of 2024 general taxes without a penalty. To avoid a penalty, payments must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before Monday, August 12.

The tax office is introducing two new methods for paying your taxes.

The office has implemented a payment by phone option: Call 516-869-7900 and select option #1. If you pay by phone, you will need your account number (located on the top right of your tax return). Credit cards, debit cards, or ACH e-checks are accepted for payment by phone. Please note: The service fee is the same as the fee schedule for online payments.

If you are unable to make it to the tax office during regular business hours, use the after-hours drop box located at the front door of 200 Plandome Rd. Place the payment receipt(s) in the envelope with your payment (checks and money orders only, no cash).

Online tax payments can be made through the recipient’s payment portal. Please go to northhempsteadny.gov/tax-payments to pay online with an ACH e-check or credit or debit card. Standard fees apply.

If you pay with an online check through your bank, please be sure to include your account number as shown on your invoice (e.g. 12345-G).

Anyone making payments by mail should place the wire transfer receipt(s) in the return envelope along with the check or money order. Write the invoice number(s) on the check(s), enclose the payment receipt(s), make the checks payable to: Mary Jo Collins, Receiver of Taxes, and mail them to PO Box 3001, Manhasset, NY 11030.

To pay your bill in person, bring your tax bill to 200 Plandome Road, Manhasset, NY 11030, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. For your convenience, the tax office will be open until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7 and Thursday, August 8, and until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12.

You may also pay at the following pick-up locations (check or money order only, no cash) during the dates and times indicated. Please bring the entire receipt with you when paying in person.
