Marijuana, pills, cash seized, one man arrested | KWKT

Waco, Texas (FOX 44) – Waco police report that various drugs and cash were seized and a 42-year-old man was arrested during a traffic stop in East Waco early Wednesday morning.

An affidavit for the arrest of Gerald Wayne Benson Jr. states that officers stopped a white sedan in the 400 block of Turner Street. The vehicle’s sole occupant attempted to get out and enter a nearby residence, officials said. Officers were able to arrest the man without incident. While speaking with him, officers noticed an odor believed to be marijuana, both from him and the nearby vehicle.

The affidavit states that the vehicle and the man were searched based on reasonable suspicion. During the search, several controlled substances were discovered. These included ecstasy, THC concentrate, marijuana and “several dangerous drugs,” according to the affidavit. In addition, several plastic bags and small denomination U.S. dollars were found, according to the affidavit. The scales, bags and drugs were all found together in a backpack.

Benson was booked into the McLennan County Jail for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a dangerous drug, and possession of a quantity of marijuana equivalent to a state jail offense.

He remained in prison until Wednesday afternoon.
