South Texas Health System in Edinburg hosts hiring event

The South Texas Health System in Edinburg is hosting a hiring event on Thursday for anyone interested in working in healthcare.

STHS leadership stated that the number of surgeries performed has increased and that this hiring action will help meet the demand and growing need for operating rooms in the Rio Grande Valley.

STHS doctors perform between 350 and 550 surgeries each month, but due to population growth in the valley and the construction of two new operating rooms, they are looking for more staff to join their team.

The hospital system is looking for registered nurses and surgical technicians, but also wants to fill other positions.

“We are looking for surgical technicians and OR nurses, and we also have many other positions for charge nurses and pharmacists, respiratory therapists and many other areas in the laboratory,” said Lance Ames, CEO of STHS Edinburgh and Children’s Hospital.

STHS Edinburgh is looking for experienced professionals, but this is not a requirement.

Applicants must bring a current resume and expect to be hired immediately. The two new operating rooms will officially open in August.

The recruitment event will take place on Thursday from 10am to 2pm at STHS in Edinburgh.
