Ashburn’s Sense of Thai plans new locations

It looks like the Ashburn Restaurant Sense of Thai will grow again – because there are rumors that two more locations are being planned in the Washington area.

The first Sense of Thai opened in A Loudoun in Ashburn in 2015. It was a huge success – known for both its Thai food and craft cocktails.

As regular readers know, a second Sense of Thai location is under construction in the South Riding Market Square shopping center. Sense takes over the premises of Ford’s Fish Shack.

We recently showed a preview of what the site will look like and an opening date could be announced at any time.

Meanwhile, The Burn has learned that a third Sense of Thai is planned for spring 2025 in Bethesda, Maryland. And a fourth Sense of Thai is planned for 2026 in Reston.

This location is scheduled to open as part of the Reston Station Midline project, a mixed-use development near the Wiehle Avenue exit of the 267 and the Wiehle-Reston East subway station.

We have asked management for further details on expansion plans but have not yet received a response.

One more note: The restaurant’s full name was Sense of Thai St (as in street) for a long time, but it looks like the brand is dropping the word “street” from the name since no one calls it that anyway. The logo has been changed in a few places to reflect this change.

Sense of Thai is part of the larger Pattana restaurant group, which also operates restaurants under the brands Tiki Thai, Don Khao Thai and the future Bird’s Eye Thai.
