Man killed by Buffalo police

In the early hours of Wednesday, July 10, 2024, Buffalo Police were busy as reports came in that officers had fired shots and a man was dead.

According to the Buffalo News, the shooting occurred shortly after midnight near Kensington Ave and Poultney Avenue in Buffalo’s University District.

The man, whose identity was not released by police investigators, was taken to Erie County Medical Center on Grider Street in Buffalo, where he was pronounced dead.

Buffalo Police homicide detectives and officers from the Internal Investigations Division are investigating the shooting. Additionally, New York State law requires that officer-involved shootings be investigated by the New York State Attorney General’s Office.

No further information has been released or made available by the Buffalo Police Department or City Hall.

The last time someone was killed by Buffalo Police was on February 24, 2024, when officers shot and killed 58-year-old Edward Holmes on Reed Street near Sycamore.
