Strictly Pro Karen Hauer breaks her silence on the Giovanni Pernice scandal

Changing dance partners is nothing new for popular Strictly Come Dancing pro Karen Hauer, but this time she’s hoping her latest romance will last.

The show’s longest-serving pro has been wowing audiences with her incredible talent for 13 years. At 42, Karen has coaxed the best moves out of celebrities such as comedians Eddie Kadi and Jayde Adams, as well as the late Hairy Biker Dave Myers, who sadly passed away in February at the age of 66.

Despite her success on screen, Karen’s personal life has not always reflected her professional success. Although she has been married and divorced three times, the Venezuelan-born star has not given up on love.

She is currently in a relationship with former rugby player Simon Davidson and has not ruled out the idea of getting married again.

She said: “Things are brilliant. I enjoy a good wedding. I definitely grew up watching Strictly. I’ve had ups and downs as an artist and a dancer, but also as a human being in my personal and private life,” reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile, the show is facing challenges from the recent exit of fellow pro Giovanni Pernice, 33, who was accused of bullying at least three of his former dance partners. Pernice denies all allegations.

Karen is the first cast member to comment on the controversy.

“We’re going to miss him. It was a huge surprise. Things can happen that we don’t know about. I don’t want to say anything wrong or hurt anyone. But it’s not a nice feeling for anyone. We’re all so busy doing our own thing during the show. We’re all in a bubble with our own celebrities. I can’t say anything (about the allegations). I haven’t spoken to him – he’s busy doing his thing on tour. I don’t know what happened. It’s really sad.”

Shirley Ballas, the chair of the jury, has supported Giovanni, saying he has always been a “perfect gentleman” to her. Anton Du Beke, also a judge, has supported Giovanni and accompanied him on their tour together, despite the recent allegations, which Giovanni denies.

Karen’s love life was also in the spotlight. She was married to dancer Matthew Hauer for nine years before finding love with her Strictly colleague Kevin Clifton.

Their marriage lasted three years before they divorced in 2018. She then married fitness expert Jordan Wyn-Jones, but that marriage also ended after two years.

Now Karen reveals she’s taking things slow with Adidas marketing manager Simon, who she met through her Strictly friend Gorka Marquez, as the pair are enjoying getting to know each other.

“Would I get married again? Never say never. It’s not the marriage that goes wrong, it’s the person. You think you know someone, but then you don’t. But that’s why I’m taking it slow and really getting to know Simon before I take the next step.”
