UE women’s basketball hires Tyler McCormick as assistant coach

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville women’s basketball team and head coach Robyn Scherr-Wells have announced the hiring of assistant coach Tyler McCormick.

After two years at Pittsburg State, Illinois native Tyler McCormick joined the Purple Aces on the bench. “I am thrilled Tyler has chosen to join our team!” exclaimed Scherr-Wells. “His energy, passion for player development and desire to be a part of building a championship program in Evansville is what sets him apart. I know he will be a tremendous asset to Evansville women’s basketball!”

McCormick spent the last two years with Pittsburgh State’s Division II basketball team in Kansas. During his time with the Gorillas, McCormick handled a variety of responsibilities with a focus on scouting and player development. McCormick was involved in multiple aspects of player development, including individual training sessions, managing academic assignments, and coordinating community service projects. In addition to scouting and player development duties, McCormick was in charge of Pitt State’s team graphics and contributed to the Gorillas’ social media strategy.

Prior to Pittsburg State, McCormick spent three years as a student assistant for the Missouri Southern State men’s basketball team. With the Lions, McCormick organized practices that included film coordination and possession tracking. As a student assistant, McCormick also helped with equipment management. He also served as a practice player for the Lions women’s basketball team.

McCormick earned a bachelor’s degree in general studies from Missouri Southern State. He then earned his master’s degree in health, performance, recreation, sport and leisure management from Pittsburg State. McCormick is a native of Colfax, Illinois.
