Laura Mae Lindo, Member of Provincial Parliament for Kitchener Centre, is a respected activist and educator who holds both a Masters and PhD in Education. Laura Mae is the Official Opposition Critic for Anti-Racism and Equity, as well as Colleges and Universities.

In her work as inaugural Chair of the Official Opposition's Black Caucus, she demonstrated her commitment to building inclusive communities both within and outside of political spaces.  Laura Mae's leadership is grounded in her knowledge of putting anti-oppression theories into practice. She is a knowledgeable advocate for the rights of women and girls, a respected ally to marginalized communities, and, most importantly, a courageous public speaker, ready, willing, and able to speak to issues often left unaddressed in the mainstream. 

This is reflected in her continued advocacy through the provincial Leading Women Leading Girls Building Communities Award as well as the creation of the Black Excellence in Leadership Award (BELA) in 2021.
