“All it takes is two signatures: one from you and one from me.”
Ventura believes the deciding factor was that Vince McMahon was no longer in the game.
The July 29 episode of Monday Night Raw aired in Saint Paul, Minnesota and before the show, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque posted a video welcoming Jesse Ventura from Minnesota.
The former governor of Minnesota returned to the company and his visit was mentioned during the Raw broadcast. Ventura met with Chris Van Vliet for an interview and announced that contracts had been agreed between him and WWE, adding that only the signatures of both parties were needed.
My relationship with them (WWE) has improved a lot. We are very close – I can say this – to having the contracts signed. The contracts have been agreed and all we need is two signatures, one from them and one from me, and I will be back with the legends… Pretty soon, pretty soon (that’s my time frame in which I want to get it done), because time is money.
Ventura was then asked if Vince McMahon’s departure was the main reason for his reunion with WWE. Here is his answer:
Yes, yes, yes (what’s changed is Vince McMahon is no longer with WWE). Very much so. I think that they’re much more — since they merged with Ultimate Fighting (Championship) and are now under one umbrella — they’re much more of a mainstream company that’s easier to deal with because they’re more open. There’s no need to hark back to the old days of wrestling, for lack of a better word, slavery. Because, you know, in the old days of wrestling, you really were slaves, and I don’t know, I got a big compliment the other day. Barry Bloom, my former agent, who I introduced to Vince. I was the first wrestler to get Vince an agent contract, and I heard Barry was on a podcast and said that all these contracts that these guys are getting today owe Jesse Ventura a thank you. Because if it wasn’t for him, they wouldn’t be getting them.
