Rex is a young terrier mix originally rescued from Georgia. This sweet southern boy would do well with slightly older children and an owner who already has experience with dogs. Rex has known love at home and is excited to find it again this second time around.
You could try to find a happier, sweeter, prettier kitten than four-month-old Luna, but she’s hard to beat! Her happiness began when she was discovered by one of our wonderful staff members who nursed her back to health and prepared her for indoor life. Now she’s fully prepared and ready to pass on all the great lessons she’s learned in her loving foster home. Luna is simply the best!
Bob is a young mixed breed straight from Texas. He can be a little shy when first met, but with some time he really opens up and shows his loving personality. There is no doubt that Bob will be a loyal canine companion for the person who is willing to give him some time and patience while he adjusts to life in a home and learns what it means to be a beloved member of the family.
*Double Adoption* Aspen and Sienna are the sweetest seven-month-old sisters who came from Puerto Rico. Their lives are now completely different than the one they left behind and they must fend for themselves. I hope their time at Animal League America won’t be long because there’s nothing stopping them from finding a real family!
Travis is a young terrier mix rescued from Georgia. This adorable dog has never experienced life in a home and has been with Animal League America since he was a baby. A home with adults who have experience with dog ownership would be just what he needs to adjust to his first and hopefully forever home.
What’s blooming inside Bianca’s furry friends? Lantana! This adorable six-month-old mini tuxedo kitten is ready to change your life in a jiffy. Get ready to stroke those ears – they’re oversized for a reason, after all. Latana may grow into them one day, but she’ll never lose the love of her first real family!

Look at that smile! Little Birdie is a tiny Bully mix estimated to be about four years old. Birdie’s gorgeous red coat and white chest make her almost a doppelganger of 80’s movie star Hooch (Turner and Hooch), if she wasn’t such a teeny tiny thing!
A sweet and innocent little bird was abandoned in a local park. Her loyalty and intelligence were immediately apparent to the shelter staff when they found her frightened, confused, and hesitant to leave the place where she had been abandoned. It seemed as if she was desperately waiting for her human to come back and pick her up.
When Birdie arrived at the shelter, she was shy and unsure. However, the team showered her with attention and tons of affection. Birdie quickly showed what a loving and fun-loving pup she really is. With a gentle approach, some patience, and a handful of treats, Birdie will quickly give her most loyal friendship to everyone who meets her. She is young, beautiful, healthy, and has an unlimited supply of love to give. Birdie deserves a chance to find happiness where she will never be abandoned again.
Because of her energy, Birdie is perfect for a home where she is the only pet and lives with older children, preferably over the age of fourteen.
If you would like to meet Birdie, please fill out a Application To allow time to interact with them appropriately in a home environment. For more information about the City of Smithtown’s rescue operations, visit: TownofSmithtownAnimalShelter.com
