Cas vs Wire – Super League Round 23 clash story and post-match reactions
CAI Taylor-Wray and John Bateman both scored their first tries for Warrington Wolves in a 28-6 win at Castleford Tigers.
Young fullback Taylor-Wray, deputising for the injured Matt Dufty, produced an individual effort from half the length of the pitch and scored the only try of the first half.
Thanks to Josh Thewlis’ conversion and a penalty, The Wire led 8-0 at halftime.
Bateman then scored a touchdown early in the second half and Thewlis again scored the extra points to make it 14-0.
But Cas did not want to throw in the towel and was able to win back a converted try shortly afterwards through Luke Hooley.
Matty Nicholson’s try put the team at 18-6 and Matty Ashton won the game with a diving goal in the corner.
Thewlis converted his own try as Wire extended their lead.
