Decomposed man washed up on beach in Cape Town

On Thursday afternoon, the body of a man was washed up on the popular Clifton Beach in Cape Town.
Sergeant Wesley Twigg, spokesman for the Western Cape Provincial Police, said the partially decomposed body was found washed ashore between 3rd and 4th Beach in Clifton.
“Camps Bay police have launched an investigation,” Twigg said.
SAPS divers were called to the scene and recovered the body from between the rocks.
“An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death,” Twigg said.

District Councillor Nicola Jowell said: “The deceased is an adult male who had been in the water for a considerable length of time. The circumstances and location of his entry into the water are unknown.”
“Due to the rough and very high seas, it could have hit many places along the coast.
“I hope SAPS can make an identification so the family can have closure.”
