Firefighters battle huge house fire for five and a half hours
Firefighters battled a massive house fire for five and a half hours in the early hours of this morning. Three fire engines were called to a fire in a semi-detached house on Wordsworth Road in Denton just before midnight on Saturday (April 27).
Pictures taken at around 1am this morning (April 28) show flames and smoke rising from the house in the Hauton Green area of the city. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Services said they used a nine-metre ladder and two hose reels to extinguish the fire and secure the area.
Several police vehicles and an ambulance were also seen at the scene. According to GMP, one person was evacuated from the property.

However, it is unclear whether anyone required medical attention. The North West Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just before midnight yesterday (Saturday 27 April), three fire engines from Gorton, Hyde and Offerton fire stations and the technical response unit from Ashton fire station were called to a fire at a semi-detached house on Wordsworth Road, Denton.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using a nine-metre ladder and two hose reels and secured the area. The emergency services were on duty for around five and a half hours before handing the scene over to colleagues from Greater Manchester Police.”
