Horsham City Councilwoman Harmon resigns | Hatboro, PA Patch
HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — Horsham Township Councilwoman Theresa Harmon has submitted her resignation. Her successor is expected to be named at Monday night’s council meeting.
“It makes me very sad that we must consider the resignation of Township Councilwoman Theresa Harmon because she is moving,” Council President William Whiteside said at the Aug. 14 meeting.
“It’s definitely not an easy decision,” Harmon said. “It has been a great honor to serve Horsham. This community is the result of years of planning. I have learned so much. I am so impressed and proud and hope that will always be the case in Horsham. In ten or twenty years, I don’t want anything to change. I will miss you all. Thank you for almost three great years.”
“I’m sorry we couldn’t work together much more closely for longer,” said City Councilwoman Samantha Slaff.
“We came here together. It is sad to see you go,” said Council Vice President Sean Wade.
Her resignation due to the move was unanimously accepted by the Council.
Township Manager Bill Walker said Harmon will return at a later date to be honored with a proclamation for her service.
He praised her time on the Hatboro-Horsham School Board before joining the council. He said Harmon was also involved in community activities with her three sons for 24 years.
Harmon thanked her fellow council members and former members, such as former Council President Mark McCouch. She also thanked Township Engineer Eric Garton, Attorney Mary Eberle, Administrative Director Dennis Haggerty Jr. and Larry Burns, the township’s director of community and economic development.
“It’s the only community our kids have ever known,” Harmon said. “I just love Horsham.”
