Kansas residents have chosen an image of the iconic Flint Hills as the design for the state’s next personalized license plate.
The Kansas Department of Revenue said Monday that more than 30,000 votes were cast and that the design featuring hills, sun and a colorful sky was chosen. Five designs were put up for public voting online earlier this month and the design featuring the Flint Hills emerged as the clear favorite with over 56% of the vote.
“We are excited to introduce the next personalized license plate design for Kansas and will now work to get the design ready for production so that Kansas residents can purchase it in 2025,” said David Harper, director of the KDOR’s Vehicle Division.
When the new design is available, Kansas residents will be able to purchase the license plate from their county treasurer for $45.50.
The “Powering the Future” personalized license plate design will no longer be available after January 1, 2025. Kansas residents who currently have this design will need to replace their license plate during the next renewal period to keep the text on their personalized license plate.
