Liverpool consider loan offer for Tyler Morton from Bayer Leverkusen
Liverpool are considering a loan offer from Bayer Leverkusen for Tyler Morton.
Fellow midfielder Stefan Bajcetic could also temporarily leave Anfield as Red Bull Salzburg are leading the hunt for him.
Morton, 21, is excited at the prospect of spending this season with Xabi Alonso’s Bundesliga champions and a decision on his future is expected in the next 24 hours.
Bajcetic, 19, is working on his fitness after missing most of last season through injury and Liverpool are willing to loan him out if there is a guarantee he will play regularly in the first team.
A loan to Salzburg would reunite him with former Liverpool assistant coach Pep Lijnders, who is head coach at the Austrian club.
Talks between the clubs are ongoing, with Feyenoord also interested.
Liverpool have shown interest in Morton, who is valued at £20 million, throughout the summer, with RB Leipzig and Atalanta also among his suitors.
Alonso values Morton highly and Leverkusen are looking to strengthen their options in midfield with Gustavo Puerta close to leaving the club and joining Hull City.
Morton, who made nine first-team appearances for his boyhood club, spent the last two seasons on loan in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers and Hull City respectively.
If Liverpool approve the transfer of the England U21 international, it will probably be a direct loan without an option or obligation to buy.
