New Waco Fire Chief sworn in

WACO, Texas (FOX 44) – Waco’s new fire chief was officially sworn in Monday morning!

A brief ceremony for Scott Walker was held in the community room of Fire Station 6, 1006 N. 25th Street. Refreshments were served following the ceremony.

According to the City of Waco, Chief Scott Walker brings over 30 years of fire service experience. He comes from the Phoenix Fire Department, where he served as assistant fire chief.

In Phoenix, he led the fifth largest city in the United States and demonstrated expertise in all areas of a modern, all-hazards fire department. His diverse experience includes fire operations, fire prevention, emergency management, fire logistics, public information and financial management.

The city says Walker has a bachelor’s degree in public safety and emergency management from Grand Canyon University and an associate’s degree in applied fire science from Phoenix Community College. He also completed the Naval Postgraduate Leadership Program.

Walker was selected from a pool of 60 applicants following a nationwide search. The city says his impressive leadership skills and extensive experience make him an invaluable asset
to the community.
