Penn State Football Tight End Tyler Warren on Mackey Award Watch List
Tyler Warren, tight end for the Penn State football team was named on the list of candidates for the Mackey Award, which is given annually to the best tight end in college football.
Warren, a fourth-year tight end with the Nittany Lions, will begin his first season as the Nittany Lions’ exclusive top option at the position. In recent years, Warren has worked with Theo Johnson and Brenton Strange, both of whom have moved on to the NFL.
So far, Warren has made 40 appearances with 15 starts at Penn State. He recorded 49 receptions for 606 yards and 11 touchdowns, as well as two rushing touchdowns. His seven touchdown receptions coming into the 2023 season led all tight ends in the Big Ten and were third most in the country.
The award selection committee will announce the eight semifinalists on Tuesday, October 29, and the three finalists on Tuesday, November 26. The winner will be announced live on ESPN on Thursday, December 12.
