Rotary Club of The Woodlands celebrates 50th anniversary with book launch

On Thursday, August 22, the Rotary Club of The Woodlands hosted an official 50th anniversary book launch at The Woodlands Country Club.th Anniversary book with the title In Pursuit of Selfless Service: A Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Service of the Rotary Club of The Woodlands, TX 1975-2025.

The 9″ x 12″ coffee table sized hardcover book will contain approximately 161 full-color pages printed on 80 lb. glossy paper. The book will include a brief history of The Woodlands (a background of The Woodlands that picks up where Roger Galata and Jim Barlow’s book, The Woodlands: The inside story of creating a better hometownCompleted in 2004) along with the history of the Rotary Club of The Woodlands to showcase the significant contributions of Rotarians to the community. At the end of the book, 216 Rotary members (current members at the time of book design) are listed with yearbook style photos. The book will be a great keepsake for the Rotary Club’s 50th anniversary celebration.th anniversary, a keepsake for current and former Rotary members and supporters, and a piece of The Woodlands history.

During the event program, Rotary Club President Denton Florian and Rotary member (and author and creator of the book) Dr. Robert (Bob) C. Schucker thanked the editors and sponsors of the 50th anniversary book:

The Woodlands Rotary Club Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, will publish the book, which is expected to be available on October 31, 2024. Payment is not due until the book(s) are picked up or delivered (for which a shipping fee will apply).
The net proceeds from the book benefit the Woodlands Rotary Club Foundation and are used primarily for scholarships.

Since its founding and for the past 50 years, the Rotary Club has been an active service organization in The Woodlands.
