Vaughan, Earleen Phibbs – NRVNews
Earleen Phibbs Vaughan, age 77, of Denton, NC, passed away at her home in Denton on Sunday, August 4, 2024. She was born on January 14, 1947 in Harrisonburg, Virginia, to the late Mary Katherine Cook and the late Arby Hastwell Phibbs.
She attended Concord College in West Virginia. Earleen and her husband Ronald were longtime members of the First Christian Church (DOC) in Pulaski, Virginia. Both Earleen and Ronald retired from the National Security Agency after over 35 years of service. They were lovingly married for 54 years.
Her cousins Betty and Dr. Michael Herzberg lovingly cared for Earleen during the final stages of her life, which included a long and courageous battle with cancer. Betty and Earleen’s granddaughter Mackenzie were by her side in her final moments.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Vaughan, her youngest son Andrew Vaughan, her eldest sister Peggy Metz, her middle sister Jean Burgwald and her brother-in-law Ken Metz.
She leaves behind: one son; Bryan (Amy) Craig Vaughan of Wellington, FL; four grandchildren; Kayleigh Vaughan, Jacob Vaughan, Zachary Vaughan and Mackenzie Vaughan; one great-granddaughter, Amelia Vaughan; nephews; Aaron Vaughan, Brandon Vaughan, Hampton Vaughan, Ted (Crystal) Burgwald and Mike Patterson; nieces; Christina (Robert) Phibbs, Tammy (Michael) Phibbs Holcomb, Therese (Philip) Phibbs-Witmer.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 12, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Seagle Funeral Home, followed immediately by a funeral service conducted by Pastor Edwin Clever. Burial will follow immediately afterward at the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.
